Executive Director 

GALLIM DANCE, the leading New York City contemporary dance company dedicated to creating and performing the original works of Artistic Director Andrea Miller, seeks a dynamic and experienced Executive Director. The successful candidate will be a charismatic dance leader who can partner effectively with Andrea Miller and the Board of Directors to successfully execute Gallim Dance’s 10th Anniversary Season and associated fundraising campaign during 2017-18, and then partner with stakeholders to map the company’s exciting next chapter.

The successful candidate will be inspired by the opportunity to join a company celebrating a major milestone and already looking to a bright future with exceptional momentum and continuing growth opportunity. S/he will have a demonstrated track record of leadership in a similar position, and will either possess or quickly develop an excellent understanding of all income sources, including fundraising, booking and education. S/he will have knowledge of Andrea Miller’s choreography and the company’s works, and be passionate about them. S/he will be an experienced public speaker and fundraiser, able to solicit gifts, manage budgets, and bear the organizational responsibility for fiscal health. Polished and diplomatic, s/he will have superb interpersonal skills and be an excellent communicator in verbal, written, and presentation forms.

Executive Director Position Description

Production Associate 

Gallim Dance  is seeking an organized, unflappable and detailed-oriented individual to work 20-25 flexible hours per week as its new part-time Production Associate working directly with the Company’s Artistic Director Andrea Miller.

This is a great opportunity for an individual with some dance production and executive assistant experience to join a positive and energetic artistic community. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, this year, Gallim has fast become a leading contemporary dance company with a Fall 2017 season at The Joyce and numerous touring and residency engagements nationally and internationally. Gallim’s artistic and administrative home is in the heart of Clinton Hill in Brooklyn where the Company rehearses and offers classes to the community.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Support Artistic Director

  • Attend meetings with Artistic Director (AD), take notes, support production and artistic needs with clerical assistance and follow up
  • Plan and schedule AD attendance at a variety of meetings, rehearsals and teleconferences and create agendas and supporting material; arrange travel
  • Maintain email correspondence for AD, as needed

Production and Company Management

  • Secure rehearsal space, maintain rehearsal calendar, liaison with dancers, administration, and all collaborators
  • Secure project dancers, collaborators and the Production team (Stage Manager, Lighting Director) for local productions and touring; finalize project fees and contracts with production collaborators
  • Attend production and pre-touring meetings, assist in post-performance recap
  • Manage project details, budget and travel arrangements for each engagement including transportation logistics, lodging, and ground transportation; created detailed itineraries for company
  • Review presenter and residency contracts to ensure alignment with artistic needs; communicate with partners as needed

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail
  • Highly organized and proven ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong scheduling skills
  • Positive, strong interpersonal skills in order to interact with company members, staff, and community members
  • Proficient with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, company members, volunteers, donors, and program participants.
  • Self-starter who is able to work independently, while also being a strong team player who can follow directions and work collaboratively
  • Personal qualities of integrity, maturity, credibility and flexibility
  • Commitment to Gallim’s mission of celebrating the human spirit through dance.

Gallim Dance, one of New York’s leading contemporary dance companies, creates and performs the work of Artistic Director Andrea Miller.
