Dancing in a surreal world of dreams, Gallim performed an original installation for the grand opening of the new SLS South Beach Hotel, a boutique luxury hotel designed by Philippe Starck. The event received the 2012 Best Hotel Opening Award.

Noord Nederlandse Dans
April
Artistic director of Noord Nederlandse Dans invited Andrea Miller and Israeli choreographer Roy Assaf to co-create Rock Paper Scissors (2011), a work surrounding the concepts of risk, luck, and coincidence. Each choreographer’s work shows a game that cannot be won. The work premiered in Groningen, Netherlands.

Dancers Responding to AIDS

Bruce (excerpt of Wonderland) was created by Andrea Miller to benefit Dancers Responding to AIDS with generous support provided by Choreographic Sponsors Mr. Patrick Mahanger and Dr. Kevin Baumlin. Featuring Gallim dancers Bret Easterling, Dan Walczak, Jonathan Windham, and Francesca Romo, Bruce premiered at the 16th annual Fire Island Dance Festival, a weekend long program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Funds raised were distributed through Broadway Cares to AIDS and family-service organizations nationwide and to the essential social service programs of The Actors Fund. |

A collaboration featuring work of theatrical artists Phantom Limb, music of band Skeleton Key, and choreography of Andrea Miller premiered in November 2011 at BAM Harvey Theater. As projections mingle with the minimalist score by Kronos Quartet, a vision of the Antarctic future unfolds in this tale of survival at the end of the earth.

Synched, Beyond the MachineThe newest piece choreographed by Andrea Miller for the 10th Anniversary of Beyond the Machine, featured live composition by Jakub Ciupinski and Cristina Spinei. Using loops of music and choreographed material, dancers and musicians were connected via bluetooth technology to perform the piece.The creation of Synched is possible in part through the support of The O’Donnell Green Music and Dance Foundation. This work was commissioned by the American Music Center Live Music for Dance Program.
